Knoxville: Mast Store and Merrell Team to End Childhood Hunger at Home

KNOXVILLE, TN – Mast General Store and Merrell’s Food for Kids campaign enters its 16th year in the fight against childhood hunger. From October 13 – 26, Merrell will donate $15 to a children’s fund at a local food security agency for each pair of its footwear purchased at Mast Store or Mast Store Online.

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee will receive Food for Kids donations from Merrell footwear purchased at the Knoxville Mast General Store. This food bank serves 18 counties in Eastern Tennessee. They operate a Food for Kids program that provides more than 12,600 students with food in addition to hosting a school pantry program that 14 area schools participate in.

Merrell’s $15 donation makes a tangible difference in a child’s life. Food security agencies use their leveraged buying power, along with donations and volunteer hours, to stretch $1 into $3, $4, or even more in food value.

According to No Kid Hungry, as many as 13 million American children live in food-insecure households where access to proper nutrition and sufficient meals is limited or unavailable. In parts of Mast Store’s four-state region, that ratio can increase to one in four children.

Mast Store guests who purchase new Merrell boots or shoes during Food for Kids will take home reliable, high-quality footwear while pitching in to end child hunger in their community. All other Mast guests can also support the same cause by choosing to RoundUP any transaction to the nearest whole dollar today through November 30.

The Mast Store and Merrell thank everyone who makes this year’s 16th Food for Kids campaign a success in an effort to make our communities healthier, happier places for all children! For more information, stop by the Mast Store at 402 South Gay Street in Downtown Knoxville.
